What our guests have to say ....
The cottage is more than just a holiday let to us, its also our home.. we love spending time there and we take great pleasure when our commitment to this historic property is appreciated by our guests who we greatly enjoy sharing it with.....
"We had a marvellous week at the cottage in September, when we were spoiled with very unusual 27 degree weather with pretty much constant sunshine. I'd booked the cottage for the location and the wildlife, which didn't disappoint. The cottage is incredibly comfortable and well equipped, I was a bit nervous about a potential lack of wifi and phone signal (we have pets at home so good to be contactable) but we needn't have worried, the wifi was good enough for general surfing and watching the football for my husband. Otherwise it was reading a book and watching the wildlife! There's so many good walks going right from the cottage, you could do a new one everyday and it wouldn't scratch the surface. We walked to Plodda Falls (about 8miles all in from the cottage) and also the zig zag + high path road, above Tomich, where we had a brilliant encounter with a golden eagle, which was unexpected. Otherwise we drove to Dog Falls, which was probably our favourite walk in the area. Would've loved to finish the circuit of Loch Affric but it was just too hot. Next time! There's a book in the cottage with all the walking routes, though we were also lent a copy by Sam (he came to cut the grass) who also owns the sweetest Labrador called Moss, who insisted on being petted whenever we went past the house on the way to the village. Given the time of year we visited, the fruit trees in the garden were laden with apples and plums. We brought some home (making sure to leave lots for the wildlife and other guests) and it was lovely to know it was from our wonderful holiday. We felt very privileged to have had visits from the pine marten (and her kit!) on 4 nights out of 7, though it would've been nicer at perhaps more sociable hours but that's pine marten! We also had 2 nights with a badger visit, one of which lasted about 40 minutes and then the pine marten 5 minutes later, clearly waiting in the wings for her to depart. In addition, we saw the red squirrel in the garden plus more on the road out the village and a sparrowhawk fly through. It's fair to say, we loved this cottage. We hope to return at some point in the future. Glen Affric is a "Tomich" for the soul and without the crowds of Aviemore. A hidden gem and I would highly recommend anyone to book this cottage, you won't regret it."
"There really are no words to describe how perfect the cottage, locality, wildlife and Julie and Steve are. This is the most magical place, the cottage is perfectly situated for beautiful walks. We did several straight out of the door and found beautiful places all around the area to explore. The cottage is amazingly equipped with everything you need and is fabulously clean and well looked after. Julie and Steve are the most incredible hosts, they communicate swiftly, are very helpful and really care about your visit. Wildlife and nature are our passion and the area, especially the cottage, did not disappoint. We had nightly visits from pine marten and badgers. This year we took a trail cam and watching it in the morning was great at showing what visitors had been whilst we were sleeping. We both agreed on the last day that it is a piece of heaven on earth and we have already rebooked as we love the place so much."
"The Brewers Cottage is one of those property's that you hope to be able to rent and when you do, it's just like you wanted. In the property market they say location location location and believe me Brewers Cottage is just that, other cottages may be same but in all honestly Brewers Cottage Tomich in Glen Affric Scotland is something very very special . My wife and I are both in our late 70's and worked & visited many countries and without doubt Brewers Cottage ranks near top of our list. The cottages web site is full of information, you need to read it 2 or 3 times to digest the Information on cottage contents and appliances is extensive. If you are a animal lover - forget the kitchen - view the visitors who arrive, many at night but also day time for there food, so who are these visitors in the night, well for a start there are "Pine Martins" " Badgers" "Foxes " cheeky rooks ( day & night ) at least two types of mice ( pinching) food - now I must make it clear these are not in the cottage but are viewed from lounge window into outside drying area. Pine Martin even eats at the window ( unbelievable ) Then there's deer, eagles, red kite, cuckoo ( calling & flying ) plus other birds in abundance. Did we see all yes except for the eagle - some naturally not in the garden. So the area - if you like walking of cycling - you are in - but ( its not a big but ) all walks seem to start by going uphill, not quite true but it appears that way ( joke ) There was not one place we visited we did not like, traffic - well pretty much non, walking on roads, say every 10 or 15 mins at rush hour. Finally neighbours and local people, they are all helpful and friendly Must end the review, please do not visit Brewers Cottage in Tomich , Glen Affric - we want to keep it a secret."

This was our third stay at The Brewer's Cottage and it was fantastic. The scenery and wildlife in this area are stunning. We normally see Badgers and Foxes visiting the garden every evening, this time we saw Pine Martens, which were delightful feeding on sultanas and honey on a bowl on the windowsill. The wildlife at this cottage does not disappoint. The cottage itself has been refurbished recently and is even more comfortable and stunning than our previous stays. The Kitchen is fabulous and has everything that you could need. This is a lovely cosy cottage in an idyllic location for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts - we would highly recommend. The owners are fantastic and always ensure our stay in this cottage is enjoyable.

" My partner and I had a wonderful time at The Brewer's cottage - we stayed for a week in early May 2021 and loved every moment. The cottage is well fitted out (we very much enjoyed the wood burner in the lounge) and sits in a lovely garden with views towards wooded hills. It seems to be a haven for wildlife - dozens of bird species in the garden, and we were visited by two Pine Martens and a badger, with really good views of both courtesy of the feeding station just outside the window. Further afield we saw Ospreys and Golden Eagles. The cottage is really well situated for access not only to Glen Affric but also Glen Cannich and Glen Strathfarrar (we really recommend a trip up the latter if you have time!), though we felt like we could have spent the entire week exploring Glen Affric. Plenty of hillwalking opportunities too. We were originally supposed to have this holiday in May 2020, but the pandemic put paid to that, so it was long awaited and even more appreciated. Worth saying here that I don't think I've ever had such helpful and supportive hosts. Julie and Steve were absolutely fantastic about supporting us to rearrange the trip and keeping us up to date with how changing regulations might affect the booking. They also provided a wealth of information on the wildlife of the cottage. We can't recommend them or The Brewer's Cottage enough! "

"Had a wonderful week staying at Brewers Cottage, cosy, well equipped and in a beautiful part of Scotland. Julie and Steve have put a lot of effort into supplying lots of information about the local area, walks and places to visit. We especially loved watching the birds at the feeders, they kept us entertained for hours and we also had the Pine Marten visit every night. I hope all future visitors will support Julie and Steve in keeping this going. There was plenty of bird food supplied but we brought more Jam and Honey as this goes quite quickly! Places we went and would recommend are . . . . Dog falls and Coire Loch beautiful . . . Recommend the walk to Plodda Falls via the ruins of Guisachan House. Parked up at the Loch Affric Circuit Car Park and walked some of the Affric Kintail way, absolutely stunning!! The snow definitely helped. Saw majestic stags on a drive down Glen Cannich. A day trip to the Black Isle, well worth a visit. One week was definitely not long enough, the area has so much to offer. I would highly recommend Brewers for anyone considering staying in the area."

"Beautiful location with walks and wildlife on the doorstep. We were lucky enough to have a visit from a Pine Marten one night, sat on the window sill eating nuts. The cottage offers everything you need and the log fire is perfect for the evening. Highly recommend - 10/10"

"Set in a Superb location for walking and outdoor activities all around the Glen Affric area and further afield, just on the edge of the village of Tomich, within walking distance to the village public house & with so many stunning locations to visit, on foot or by car & all from a cottage that offers everything you need in comfort & With that homely feel. it’s a place we’ve visited twice now & it’s a place we will return too ; we cannot fault the brewers cottage."

"My wife & I have been here before in 2017, there have been improvements made since then but for me there was not much to improve on. It is tucked away just off a dead end country lane in a very sparsely populated place. An abundance of time and space, peace, darkness and lots of walking and yet not far from Inverness, Fort William, Isle of Skye, Oban etc. etc. and a hotel in the village with a local Spar shop & Post office 3 miles away in the next village. Wild life, ancient Caledonian forest all on the doorstep. It's a wonderful place."
-
"We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week in this very comfortable cottage. After a good long walk and there are plenty of excellent routes in the area, we'd come home to light the wood burning stove and relax for the evening .. perfect."

"Lovely comfy cosy cottage, perfect location for our holiday, would defiantly come back"

"We had a lovely week at the Brewer's Cottage celebrating my wife's 60th birthday. The cottage has been modernised and is superbly equipped. The location is very quiet with only the wildlife for company, yet is within easy walking distance of the village centre. Julie and Steve provide lots of walking ideas both from the doorstep and further afield. The drawback of the relatively remote location is that there are no local shops, so provisions have to be planned in advance if the intention is to home cook! In summary, a great base to explore this wonderful area of the Scottish Highlands."

"What great holiday accommodation was just great. The cottage is really cosy and comfortable, the weather was fantastic so we had chance to enjoy the garden. There are so many beautiful walks round this area and the scenery is breathtaking"

"We’ve loved every minute and have no doubt we will return again and again, the only sad part is having to leave it all behind but we have fantastic memories and stunning photographs to take away.
